Frequently asked questions about Klean Kanteen.

Do all the caps fit all the bottles?
Yes, the caps are interchangeable with all size bottles.

Are they dishwasher safe?
Yes. The bottles and caps are all dishwasher safe.

Can they be used for hot beverages?
Not really – because it is a single walled container, the heat from the beverage will transfer to the bottle, making it too hot to handle! We do have an insulated stainless steel bottle suitable for hot beverages on our Thermos page.

How do these sizes relate to metric?
An 18 oz is about 533 ml, the 27oz bottle is approximately 800 ml, and a 40oz is about 1.2 litres.

How big are they?
The 27oz bottle stands about 9” / 23 cm high (not including cap) and has a circumference of 9.5” / 24 cm. (By comparison, a standard pop can stands about 5” / 13 cm high and has a circumference of 8.5” / 22 cm.)
The 18oz bottle stands about 7 1/4 ” / 18 cm high (not including cap) and has a circumference of 9.5” / 24 cm, same as the 27 oz.
The 40oz is about 9.5” / 24 cm tall – and quite a bit fatter – its circumference is 11.75” / 30 cm.

What do they weigh?
Basic weights (empty bottle,without cap) are as follows:
18oz: approx 4.75 oz / 130 g
27oz: approx 6.5 oz / 170 g
40oz: approx 9 oz / 240 g

Will it fit in my bike bottle cage?
In our experience, the 27oz size will fit in most standard bike cages, provided there is sufficient headroom for the bottle to be slipped into the cage. Unlike soft plastic bottles, Klean Kanteen can’t be ‘bent’ to be fit into a cage. The 18 oz has the same circumference with slightly less height, so would also be a good biking option.

Are the sports caps leak-proof?
Not completely. Because Klean Kanteen doesn’t flex like a plastic bottle, the sports cap has been designed with a valve to admit air so you can drink from it easily. This valve can sometimes leak if the bottle is on its side or upside down.

Where are Klean Kanteens made?
Klean Kanteens are manufactured in China.
